PlayStation 4 has sold 30 million units in two years

PlayStation 4 has sold 30 million units in two years
Sony maintains relentless pace with another 12 million consoles sold in 2015 so far

Sony has now sold through more than 30 million consoles around the world, further reinforcing its position as the generation's leading console.

To be precise, the figure released by Sony today is 30.2 million units worldwide, which means Sony has sold 12 million PS4s in less than a year.

Microsoft has continued to highlight smaller victories - outselling PS4 on a given month in the US, for example - only without the benefit of an update to the bigger picture. In October this year, the company said that it would no longer reveal Xbox hardware sales in its financial reports, choosing to focus on engagement metrics related to Xbox Live instead.

Despite population gap Japan far outspends China in mobile gaming

1

Newest SuperData report shows $14bn Asian mobile games market accounts for more than half of world's mobile games revenue

According to SuperData's new report, What Western Publishers Need to Know About the Asian Mobile Market 2016, Asia currently has a total of 1.2 billion mobile gamers and its market is worth $14 billion, which accounts for 55 percent of the world's mobile games revenue ($24.9 billion). And while some of the emerging markets in the region are gaining momentum, it's still China, Japan and South Korea that dominate the scene, controlling 90 percent of the revenues.

Interestingly, despite a sizable difference in the mobile playing population, Japan's players outspend China's by $1 billion. Japan has 132 million players who spend around $6.2 billion while China has 785 million players generating $5.2 billion. The third largest Asian market, South Korea, has 40 million players totaling about $1.3 billion.

Anonymous Group Leaks Identities of 1000 KKK Members

The online hacktivist group Anonymous has followed through on its promise to disclose the identities of hundreds of Ku Klux Klan members.

On Monday, Anonymous vowed to release the full info dump of about 1,000 alleged Ku Klux Klan members with a chosen date of 5th of this November.

As promised, Anonymous posted a link to a Pastebin account with the names, aliases, Google Plus profiles, Facebook accounts and other identifying information of roughly 1,000 individuals the group believes are members of the Ku Klux Klan.

"We hope Operation KKK will, in part, spark a bit of constructive dialogue about race, racism, racial terror and freedom of expression, across group lines. Public discourse about these topics can be honest, messy, snarky, offensive, humbling, infuriating, productive, and serious all at once," Anonymous wrote in the Pastebin post.

"The reality is that racism usually does NOT wear a hood, but it does permeate our culture on every level. Part of the reason we have taken the hoods off of these individuals is not because of their identities, but because of what their hoods symbolize to us in our broader society."

Wireless charging groups A4WP and PMA come under one banner as AirFuel Alliance

After announcing plans to merge earlier this year, the Alliance For Wireless Power (A4WP) and Power Matters Alliance (PMA) have come together under one name: AirFuel Alliance. The two companies previously operated as separate competitors to the popular Qi wireless charging standard, with A4WP supporting its own Rezence standard, and PMA powering the technology behind Powermat. After a period of time, products from both companies will carry the AirFuel name:

AFTER A SUITABLE GRACE PERIOD, THE BRANDS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FORMER A4WP AND PMA IDENTITIES WILL BE RETIRED. FROM THAT POINT, CERTIFIED PRODUCTS WILL CARRY THE AIRFUEL NAME AND LOGO, WHICH WILL BECOME SYNONYMOUS WITH FAST, CONVENIENT, AND READILY AVAILABLE WIRELESS CHARGING. THE NEW BRAND ALLOWS FOR A CLEAR, CONCISE IDEA OF WHAT AIRFUEL ALLIANCE ENVISIONS WIRELESS CHARGING TO ACHIEVE – A BETTER USER EXPERIENCE THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT OF SHARED WIRELESS CHARGING STANDARDS AVAILABLE ON A GLOBAL SCALE WHEREVER CONSUMERS MAY GO.

Under the AirFuel banner, the group will face an uphill battle to counter the Wireless Power Consortiums popular Qi charging standard. In all, AirFuel is composed of 195 member companies, including some like Samsung and Qualcomm, which are also backers of WPC.

Xbox One Elite controller will be in short supply 'through November,' Microsoft says

The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller, Microsoft's new high-end gamepad for the Xbox One, is sold out pretty much everywhere, and according to the company, that's going to be the case for a while.

Microsoft released the peripheral Oct. 27 alongside Halo 5: Guardians. You may not have expected Xbox One owners to snatch up a $149.99 controller — the console's standard wireless controller retails for $59.99 — but that's exactly what happened. On launch day, with many retailers reporting that they were sold out, Microsoft said in a statement to GamesBeat that it was "thrilled at the amount of interest" in the device and that it "[looked] forward to replenishing inventory in time for the holidays."

How Microsoft built a better controller ... again

If you're hoping to secure an Xbox Elite controller as a holiday gift, don't expect to be able to do so until after Black Friday.
